Assistant Teacher

Position Summary

The Christian Childcare Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children while modeling Christ-centered values. This role integrates faith, learning, and care to support each child’s spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a loving, safe, and Christ-centered classroom environment
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with early childhood standards and Christian values
  • Incorporate Bible stories, prayer, worship, and Christian character development into daily activities
  • Supervise children at all times to ensure safety and well-being
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Support children’s social-emotional development using positive guidance and redirection
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and required documentation
  • Observe and assess child development; communicate progress and concerns with families and supervisors
  • Follow all state licensing regulations, center policies, and health and safety procedures
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Early Childhood Education coursework or degree preferred)
  • Previous experience working with young children in a childcare or preschool setting preferred
  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand, and actively engage with young children

 

Faith Requirements

  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and agreement with the center’s statement of faith
  • Ability and willingness to model Christian values in behavior, communication, and teaching
  • Active involvement in a local Christian church preferred

 

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Must meet state and local childcare licensing requirements
  • CPR/First Aid certification 
  • Background check and health screening required

 

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: Full-time 
  • Compensation: Hourly based on experience
