Position Summary
The Lead Teacher is responsible for overseeing classroom operations while providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate, Christ-centered instruction and care. This role includes mentoring assistant teachers, implementing curriculum, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that reflects Christian values and supports each child’s spiritual, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood standards and Christian principles
- Integrate Bible stories, prayer, worship, and Christian character education into daily classroom activities
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment
- Supervise, mentor, and support assistant teachers and classroom aides
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, center policies, and health and safety standards
- Observe, assess, and document children’s development; communicate progress and concerns with families
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and staff
- Always model Christ-like behavior and professional conduct
- Maintain classroom schedules, lesson plans, and required documentation
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
Faith Requirements
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the center’s statement of faith
- Ability to integrate Christian teachings naturally into daily classroom activities
- Active participation in a local Christian church preferred
Physical & Other Requirements
- Must meet all state and local licensing requirements
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Successful completion of background checks and health screenings
- Ability to lift, stand, bend, and actively engage with young children

- Schedule: Full Time
- Compensation: Hourly based on experience
