Hey Church family.

I want to give you a quick COVID-19 update. When the Governor lifted restrictions on May 1, we made the decision to wait until May 24 to reopen in person gatherings. We thought by waiting, we would be far enough on the other side of the reopening of the city and state, that we would be safe. And that the restrictions would continue to be lifted.

Obviously, we’ve seen that has not been the case. Over the last 10 days we’ve seen a surge in Coronavirus cases all over the United States, including Arizona, Florida and Texas.

Just yesterday, the Mayor of McKinney joined with Dallas county and announced a city-wide mask requirement which goes into effect July 1.

All of this gives me pause as the Pastor. I ask is it wise, is it safe to remain open?

I’ve talked to lots of great people, who all have differing opinions. Some have said, “It’s irresponsible to be open, you won’t see us till the fall.” Others have said, “You should have never closed your doors. We’re leaving the church.”

Honestly, these are tough days to be a leader. No matter the decision I make, there’s a group of people that will not be happy with me.

However, there’s coming a day I will stand before God and be held accountable for how I lead our church during this time. The best thing I can do is use wisdom that will put you and your family, in what I feel is the safest possible position

So, here’s what we’re going to do. For the next two weeks, we’ll be moving all of our services, both students and adults to an online only format. This begins Wednesday July 1.

In addition, I’ve made the tough decision to cancel youth camp. Pastor Logan will be reaching out to parents to give you information about a refund.

As a former youth Pastor, and dad of two kids that were so excited to go, I can’t tell you how hard of a decision this has been for me to make. I believe camp is vital in the spiritual development of our students. That said, we’re already making plans for a special camp like, three-day, weekend experience here at Life Fellowship. You’ll hear more about it in the days to come.

In two weeks, we will reassess the current situation and make a decision going forward for the church.

Here’s what I know, our choices don’t just affect us. They affect everyone around us. I am making these decisions with a lot of prayer, with a lot of council and we are making decisions that we feel are wisest for you, your family and the integrity of our church. This is what we feel is the best plan going forward.

I’m going to ask you to give our staff and I extra grace during this time. More than ever before the needs of our community and world are at all time highs. We are being inundated with needs. Hurting people locally, pastors nationally and the heartbreaking cries of the ministries that we partner with all around the globe.

More than ever before, I am asking you to stay connected with God daily. Also, join me weekly for Church Online. Scripture puts special emphasis to stay connected especially as we see “The Day” of Jesus’s return approaching. It’s vital we stay connected.

Also, thank you, thank you, thank you for your faithfulness in giving. It’s in times like these that your giving is making a massive difference, more than you know.

God has called His people to offer hope-filled leadership and be a stabilizing force when the ground seems to be giving way. Together we’re going to faithfully prepare, not fearfully panic.

In the face of this virus, God is giving us the opportunity to lead with love and compassion.

Tatum and I, along with our staff and Elders are praying Psalm 91 over you, your family, our church and this nation.

I love being your pastor,

Chris Lindberg

Dear Life Fellowship Family and Friends

Do you remember traveling a long journey with your family and at the end of it all arriving at that one unforgettable place. It's called home.

For the last two months, we have journeyed through unprecedented times. Along the way we’ve grown, as God has brought scores of new people into the Life Fellowship family. Together, we've climbed mountains bigger than us, but smaller than God. We've spread love and navigated life.
