Peru is a predominantly Christian country, with around 80% of the population identifying as Roman Catholic. Protestantism, particularly evangelical Christianity, has been growing in recent decades, especially in urban areas. Indigenous spiritual practices, often blending Catholicism with traditional beliefs, are also present, particularly in the Andean region. Religion plays a significant role in Peruvian culture, with vibrant Catholic festivals, such as Inti Raymi and Señor de los Milagros, being key cultural events, while the Catholic Church remains an influential social institution.

Our local partner

Pastor Ben and Gini Harper service in Cusco, Peru as part of the Assemblies of God’s World Missions strategy to reach unreached people groups.

The aim of this strategy is to establish the church in areas where the existing church is either weak or does not exist. By training and equipping national workers in the areas of discipleship and evangelism, we remain committed to seeing a local work established in all of the 5,000 unreached Quechua communities in the Cusco region (which includes mountain and jungle communities).

Mission Teams are dedicated to addressing the physical and spiritual needs of specific communities. We believe that Christ’s command to go into all the world remains unchanged. However, we are mindful of the various challenges that exist both locally and globally. We commit to taking all necessary precautions and collaborating with our missionary hosts to adhere to local guidelines. When needs and requests arise from our missionary partners and hosts, we aim to provide opportunities for those who are willing and able to go and assist in meeting these needs.

Passports must not expire within 7 months of return date and must include 3 blank visa pages, not amendment pages.
